Thanks Rick and PBS for putting full episodes on YouTube! 👍🏼 I am planning my first trip to Europe for my 50th birthday in two years, hopefully everything will get back to normal to travel by then! I am watching all Rick;s videos and reading up on his travel guides..Hopefully Rick can get back soon to do new shows, post pandemic travel experience Europe soon.

  5. Quand le vin est tire, il faut le boire.

  6. Qui sait boire sait aimer, qui sait aimer sait boire.

  7. Un repas sans vin, est comme une journee sans soleil.

  8. Lyon's hand-printed silk reminds me of Malaysian batik art. They are similar to each other.

  9. How is it possible this was taped in July and August of 2020 (as labeled at the end of the episode)….where were all the masks on people indoors and outdoors, especially in the look-out area over the alps? I get not having masks during some of the eating scenes, or if the guides are walking around together and have all had their covid tests. Not a big deal, but it just doesn't make sense. There's not a mask in filmed sight during the period of some of the heaviest fears and unknowns of the future of the pandemic. There's almost no way this could be late summer 2020 unless France was extremely liberal with it's pandemic regulations, which they weren't: they were literally fining people if they left their homes and did not have a document siting the reason for their travel as one of 5 reasons. Their pandemic was very heavily regulated for the Western world.

  10. Does it occur to anyone that carving tunnels through the glacier and inviting hundreds of warm body tourists inside just might be why the glacier is melting???

Rick Steves does such a great job adding the historical and cultural relevance to the sites of each region.

  27. Thank you. Francis stunning.

  28. Rick has a way of de-politicizing the areas and experiences he proposes to us. Which is not always easy to do, I am sure, because he takes us to places that were at times, throughout history, highly "political" (I am using a polite word, here). Mid August 2021: When I finish reading the news and I am looking for just an experience of being alive and enjoying basic things like breathing fresh air, looking at beautiful sceneries and eating delicious food, I come to Rick. Thank you, Rick.

  29. Que hermoso😊🙏!!

  30. Greenhouse effects! There is a need to restore the glaciers.

  35. Their was an important American woman who spayed for England who was vigorously hunted in Lyon by the Butcher of Lyon, an SS Nazi. She eventually escaped as you probably know. A great hero who worked for England & the US once they entered WW2. Glad to see Lyon episode.
